This week, Colin spent some time with Kevin Walker from the Arthur Allen Tennis Center. They were live on Court One hitting some balls back and forth with some rather antiquated racquets and talking about all the fabulous fun events which were happening this Cinco de Mayo weekend! Colin was a bit out of breath from playing after using that tennis racket made for a giant. (Hey, it weighed a lot!)
The Clay in May Tournament
This year marks the 48th annual Clay in May tennis tournament, and 7th Avenue Social is a proud sponsor. The tournament is a month-long event that thrives off support from the Naples local tennis community. The tournament features divisions from Beginner and Novice up to the Professional level. The matches and the level of tennis that is played here is incredible! This weekend are the men’s open finals and you don’t want to miss that! The tournament is continuing for the next few weekends, so be sure to check it out.
The Arthur Allen Tennis Center is an award-winning winning public tennis center in the heart of Old Naples. The professionally staffed full-service center offers unsurpassed quality programming and facilities for the novice through advanced player, whether starting in their junior years or playing through the senior leagues. With 12 Har-Tru courts and an online court reservation system for members, the Arthur Allen Tennis Center is THE place to play tennis!
This weekend, there was a ton of fun stuff going on downtown, including the annual canoe races! The main event, of course, was the Clay in May tennis tournament.
We also hosted Tacos for Change, a taco eating competition on Cinco de Mayo which benefited a few local charities and had a whole lot of fun!
